Volunteering Roles

Volunteers are an integral part of life in the Hospice and Charity, undertaking a variety of roles that fulfill a staggering 17,000 hours of volunteering each year. Whether you are interested in Hospice roles, undertaking administration for the Charity office, or want to gather a team of colleagues for just one day of volunteering, read more about our opportunities below.

There are a wide variety of volunteering roles that exist to support the daily running of Countess Mountbatten House. Volunteers can drive patients and relatives to and from the hospice for visitng, appointments and to attend Hospice services such as Day Care. Other Hospice roles include serving drinks to patients and assisting at meal times, tending the beautiful gardens and supporting the staff in Day Care. Specially trained volunteers support the bereavement service and a befriending service.

Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity also relies on volunteers to assist with its' work to support the hospice. Charity volunteers assist with the administration of donations, correspondence, events support and internal office administration. Volunteers can also get involved with specific projects, such as fundraising research. Details of specific vacancies will be advertised on this page when they arise.

The Charity welcomes any enquiries from corporate teams looking to donate a day of volunteering. We have lots of practical opportunities for your teams to get involved in; decorating, gardening or fundraising for us. If you would like to hold an event in your workplace and raise some funds for us, we would be happy to support your plans.

Without the support offered through over 17,000 hours of volunteering time given each year, the hospice would be unable to provide the level of care to so many people. If you would like to apply to be a volunteer or would like some more information, you can contact us by email or call the Volunteering Office on 023 8047 5312.
